About
Time is limited, Train Efficiently and Effectively
Most of us today are extremely busy in our everyday lives. I have talked with hundreds of would be martial artists over the years and one of the biggest factors for most individuals is whether or not they can commit to the time it takes to learn, practice, and become proficient in a martial art. Whether it is an adult student that has to balance their professional commitments with family time, or a parent trying to balance a child’s schedule with multiple activities, the reality is that our time is very limited. We have an estimated 90 waking hours available each week in which to conduct the activities of our lives.
If we are all so busy than how can we dedicate the years it takes to become skilled in Traditional Martial Arts? The answer is…Train Efficiently through Choi Kwang Do.
Choi Kwang Do is an efficient, highly effective Modern Martial Art. The entire system is designed to be practical for self defense in that it moves with the way our body naturally moves, developing tremendous power and strength quickly. The motions are based on maximum power response and they are broken down in steps and levels of complexity, so what you learn the very first day in class begins to quickly give you defensive capabilities on the street.
Whats your commitment?
Only 2 to 3 hours per week. This is all that is required to study the art of Choi Kwang Do. Because this system works within the parameters of human motion, what you learn the very first day begins to work for you in the areas of exercise, health and fitness, muscle, tendon, bone, and joint health, and most importantly self defense capability.
We have put religion, and spirituality aside
We do not teach these concepts with our martial arts system. In addition to the extra time it takes to practice these concepts, first learning the new belief system or blending it with your current system of belief, then being shown the method for mentally applying it, then being taught how to meditate on your new concepts, too much time is wasted on such a non functional part of your training. If your already practicing your spirituality through your chosen faith or religeon, then why commit time to practicing an additional form of spirituality with your exercise or self defense training? With so many forms of religeon, different beliefs, and methods to spirituality, We choose to not influence our students deeply personal choices on their chosen path.
The Dojang (training area)
Your training is practiced in a clean, safe, private martial arts gymnasium setting. We believe that training in the martial arts is a private decision and should be conducted without outside distraction. Our location is not in direct view of the public, so you can train privately, with dignity, and without the distraction of being put on display while practicing.
We wear simple uniforms consisting of cotton pants and t-shirts. A rank belt is worn and indicates what techniques you have learned and will practice based on the current color of your belt.
The facility we train in is air conditioned in the summer, and radiantly heated in the winter providing not only a comfortable environment, but a warm floor to train on as well. See our Dojang
Competitive Fighting
Because Choi Kwang Do is a self defense martial art, we do not spend any time on sport fighting techniques or competitive fighting within, or against other schools. We focus on Fitness, Health, Longevity, and Practical Self Defense skills.
